Service-Specific Questions
How often should I have my lawn mowed in Central Connecticut?
CT lawns typically need mowing every 7-10 days during spring growth (April-June), and every 10-14 days during summer heat stress in July-August. Cool-season grasses like tall fescue and Kentucky bluegrass are most common in New Britain, Farmington, West Hartford, and Avon.
Is edging included with every mowing visit?
Yes, precision edging along driveways, sidewalks, and garden bed borders is included with every visit. Full cleanup of clippings is also included.
How often should hedges be trimmed in Connecticut?
Most formal hedges in CT benefit from 2-3 trimming visits per season. Heavy spring growth (May-June) requires the first shaping; a midsummer touch-up in July maintains clean lines; a final trim in early September prepares hedges for winter dormancy.
When is the best time to mulch in Connecticut?
Spring mulching (late April - May) is optimal after the soil has warmed. Fall mulching (October-November) is also valuable for winter insulation before CT's first hard freeze.
How much snow needs to fall before you start clearing?
A1 Lawn Care CT activates for snowfall of 2 inches or more. For seasonal contract clients, we monitor forecasts and pre-treat driveways and walkways with ice melt before storms arrive when conditions warrant.
What happens if it snows overnight?
Seasonal contract clients are our first priority. We begin clearing before dawn so properties are safe and accessible for morning commutes in New Britain, Farmington, West Hartford, and Avon. We monitor National Weather Service alerts for the Hartford CT area throughout each winter storm.
When should I book a spring cleanup in Central CT?
Book your spring cleanup as early as March to secure your preferred date. Our spring schedule fills quickly, especially in April and May. Early booking ensures your lawn gets a head start on the growing season.
